Nestled in Estes Park beside Rocky Mountain National Park, St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church is one of twenty-six parishes in Colorado’s Front Range Region and part of the Diocese of Colorado.

Episcopal services began in the Estes Valley in 1925, and in 1955 the Diocese granted official mission status, naming it St. Bartholomew’s Chapel. Construction began in 1957, and the first services were held on May 25, 1958. The chapel was dedicated that August on St. Bartholomew’s feast day—a tradition celebrated annually ever since.

Over the decades, St. Bart’s has grown through several major improvements: a 1974 southeast addition for office and storage space; elevation to parish status in 1975; and a successful early-1990s capital campaign that created the current parish hall and added office space. A later campaign funded undercroft renovations, including a bride’s room, meeting areas, nursery, kitchen, restrooms, and storage.

In 2004, private donations made possible the installation of a custom Buzard pipe organ, first heard on Palm Sunday. With 17 ranks across two manuals and pedals, technicians declared it a perfect fit for the church.
